The Student Identification Number is a unique and personal code that identifies each student throughout their educational journey. This identifier is essential for various academic procedures, as it allows parents or guardians to access the student's administrative records. The identificator facilitates processes such as enrollment, scholarship and financial aid applications, and school transportation subsidies.
The Student Identification Number is NOT the same as the National Identity Document, although in some cases, they may coincide.
If you don’t know your child’s identificator, check the ways to obtain it:
1. In the student's academic documentation
The Student Identification Number is usually printed on various official student documents. The first step is to check the following:
- Report cards (grade reports issued by the school).- Academic certificates (documents issued by the school reflecting grades or course promotion).
- Academic record (a document that tracks the student’s educational history).
- Student ID card or enrollment form (in some regions, the Student Identification Number may be included in the school enrollment records).
Steps to find it:
1️. Check the top or bottom of the document.
2️. It may appear under the name "Identificator" "Student Identification Number," or "Student Code."
3️. If the document is digital, look for PDF files or check educational platforms where grades are downloaded.
2. Ask directly at the educational institution
If you can’t find the Student Identification Number in the documentation, you can request it from the school’s administrative office.
Steps to request it:
1️. Contact the school by phone or email.
2️. Identify yourself as the student's guardian or responsible person.
3️. Provide the student’s full name and, if necessary, their National Document of Identity.
4️. Request the Student Identification Number.
Important: Some institutions may require an in-person visit to verify your identity before providing this information.
3. Check the Student Identification Number in different countries
The Student Identification Number, or its equivalent, also exists in other educational systems worldwide. Depending on the country, this number may have different names, such as Student ID, Unique Pupil Number (UPN), Matriculation Number, or Identifiant National Élève (INE).
How to find it abroad:
• Check academic documents: Report cards, enrollment forms, student ID cards, or school certificates.
• Consult official educational platforms: Most countries have digital portals where guardians can access the student's academic information.
• Contact the school: If in doubt, the school administration or office can provide this number or guide you on how to obtain it.
